Science Fiction Fantasy Saturday (SFFSat) is a place where a bunch of us post snippets from our written works and also shoot the breeze a little. And before I get ahead of myself, thanks and appreciation as always to those who stop by and leave fantastic comments.
To Catch A Marlin is available in Ebook and Paperback from Amazon |
To Catch A Marlin is a futuristic cat and mouse tale involving Special Inspector Pedroni and the vigilante Jax Marlin, who just happens to be a super sexy woman with ninja skills.
In this scene, we have Inspector Pedroni mulling a few things with his Chief Inspector.
“Your
vigilante girl’s lost her freaking marbles, Pedroni.” Chief Inspector Aoki
wiggled his tie with agitation; his round Asian features puffed even further as
he worked his mouth into a twisted line. “She’s on killing spree.”
Special
Inspector Michael Pedroni pinched the bridge of his sizeable nose. The recent
report file of the house fire, which turned into a veritable conflagration that
leveled the structure to a blackened stump, graced his cluttered desk. The
victim, a suspected serial arsonist, had disintegrated to dust. Not even their
best scanner could detect any trace of his DNA. The only evidence that the fire
wasn’t caused by the arsonist was the marlin pendant placed inside his mailbox
at the end of his front yard, untouched by the destructive flames.
Jax has gone rogue.
With this sinking realization, Pedroni let
out a breath.
Cheers!
Jax is great! Love it :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
DeleteThey'd better catch her before she kills again! My snippet in over on my website as usual. I have to stop forgetting to add my name to the list.
ReplyDeleteIt's about time she went rogue...hee hee... :-P
ReplyDelete"Jax has gone rogue."
ReplyDeleteGave me chills!
:) Heidi
Nah, Jax is THE rogue. Or perhaps more accurately, Jax is completely reinventing the whole 'going rogue' thing, setting a new high-bar standard for the rest of us who might be thinking about roguing it.
ReplyDeleteHaha!! Only you would think that!! But thanks. She does try to please the masses.
DeleteOr is someone trying to frame her?
ReplyDeleteHmm, that's a good point and angle to consider...for future books. Interesting. But in this case, nope. :)
Delete"Jax has gone rogue."
ReplyDeleteOh dear! But that's probably a good thing, eh?
Liked the description in this one!
Thanks!!
DeleteVery nice. I know Jax is kickass from last week's snippet, so I wonder how bad a rogue Jax would be.
ReplyDeletePretty bad. Extremely bad. Don't worry, it's a passing phase.
DeleteI kind of thought Jax had already done a long leap over the "rogue" line...
ReplyDeleteOoo, taking the law into her own hands - like!
ReplyDeleteUh-oh....!
ReplyDeleteLook forward to reading The Devil Inside when it's released.
Hope you're feeling a bit better today. :)
I love how this snippet ended. It was built up with great details and led to a point of tension that was fantastic. Hope you're feeling better.
ReplyDeleteThanks JM! Can I just say I really love your comments. Always makes me feel better!! :D
DeleteEh, Jax went rogue a long time ago. He's slow on the uptake :P
