Science Fiction Fantasy Saturday (SFFSat) is a place where a bunch of us post snippets from our written works and also shoot the breeze a little. And before I get ahead of myself, thanks and appreciation as always to those who stop by and leave fantastic comments.
Next, we have what happens after...
That
chilly thing that walks down your spine, ran down mine. I swallowed, not
particularly wanting to turn around, and in fact, I wanted to play the typical
damsel in distress by simply screaming for no reason. Instead, I found some mild
comfort in staring at Mason, who conveyed all my sudden fears.
A
low growl and waft of hot air brushing up my back was motivation enough for
both of us to squawk. Instinct kicked in, and without looking back, I lunged
forward, grabbed Mason and propelled us both as far away from whatever creature
that just blew me a kiss.
We
rolled across the dusty floor, Mason rigid in my arms. It didn’t help,
considering he was nearly twice my weight and carried most of our expedition
gear. I cursed him. I cursed whatever breathed on us. Loudly.
Cheers!
This reminds me of the scene in Jurassic Park where the T-Rex was breathing down on the kids.
ReplyDeleteGreat pantsing! I have a feeling this will turn into something with a title, cover art, and lots more ;-)
Thanks! And, oh yahh...you're right. Something from that movie must have infiltrated into my pantsing!!
DeleteLove the edge of humour in this!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pippa!! I do try... :D
DeleteOoh! Nicely done. Great lines, great descriptions and very vivid actions. (this is one of those 'friendly' dinosaurs though, right?)
ReplyDeleteHmmm. Maaaybee.... I haven't decided as yet. This pantsing thing is quite unpredictable. Thanks!!
DeleteWonderful snippet...love the contrast between the chill running down her back, and the warm air heading up.
ReplyDeleteHee hee. Cool, thank you!!
DeleteThis reminds me on one of those scenes in Pirates of the Caribbean - its a serious situation and I can't stop laughing cos its so silly. Love this - can't wait for more.
ReplyDeleteTwo space explorers walk into a bar and the dinosaur asks, "what are you having?" Great fun snippet. Looking forward to more.
ReplyDeleteLove the pace of this. Carries the reader along quickly, as the moment demands. And the inner monologue is perfect.
ReplyDeleteSWEET! I love this. I'm having a lot of fun reading about your dinosaur on a space ship.
