Jax is Back!

And at last! Jax Marlin - To Catch A Marlin is out.

In the tail end of the 24th Century, Special Inspector Michael Pedroni pursues Jax Marlin,
a beautiful and elusive vigilante. It’s a wild cat and mouse chase that will take him from Earth
to the Bacchus Dome and beyond.

Jax Marlin is not your average criminal. She seeks out evil-doers and law-breakers,
doling out justice in whatever way she sees fit. But lately, she finds she’s been gift-wrapping
criminals specially for her favorite copper.

Four of the world’s leading criminals are lining up to form an alliance. Jax is determined to stop them.
Hot on her heels, Inspector Pedroni finds himself questioning the difference, if any,
between her justice and his. More than that, he wonders why, when he’d had her in his grasp,
he was unable to slap on the restraints and bring her in.

Out At Last!

A little late in posting, but posting all the same...

Over the Valentine's weekend, THE ANGEL OF MERCY, novella No. 7 in the Jax Marlin series was released. In this instalment, our favourite vigilante is negotiating a small dilemma: to get back to work, or not...

The Angel of Mercy

Even A Vigilante Needs An Angel
Weeks after helping Special Inspector Pedroni sort through his demons, Jax Marlin is still hiding, reluctant to conquer her own monster and face the world. As Christmas 2400 descends, Pedroni waits for Jax in growing despair, battling the crowds shopping for gifts and having cappuccinos with his elderly neighbour. Meanwhile Jax procrastinates, but learns of the kidnapping of a young girl. She soon realizes the girl is someone she knows, and if ever she needed a kick-start, this is it. As she chases the scent of the kidnappers, Jax finds herself entrenched in tropical sunshine and briny ocean breezes, and Pedroni eagerly abandons shopping to give chase once more. Can Jax save the kidnapped girl? Will Pedroni finally capture his vigilante? But not all is as it seems, and not all that need saving need it.

There you have it. Now go get your copy now!

Cheers!

SFFSat - April 12

Science Fiction Fantasy Saturday (SFFSat) is a place where a bunch of us post snippets from our written works and also shoot the breeze a little. And before I get ahead of myself, thanks and appreciation as always to those who stop by and leave fantastic comments.

Wow, it's been quite a while since I last signed up for SFFSat. Busy reading, writing and living and trying to make more time to do those things. On the reading front, I've been ploughing through my reading list. On the writing front, I've been focusing mainly on finishing the Jax Marlin series. Just 3 more short stories to go to complete the 10-series. Getting there. On the living front, I've been diving straight in, tuning out social media and tuning into live media. Meaning, actual humans around me. Wow, I think social media is much easier. Haha! Anyways, if I can't get to read everyone else's snippets this weekend, it's because I'm busy (live media-ing) babysitting the nephews and may need a couple days of recovery after. :) But I hope everyone enjoys my offering...

This snippet comes from THE EDGE OF THE BLADE, #6 in the To Catch a Marlin short story series. It's scheduled for release April 18.

In this snippet, we have our favourite vigilante watching as her copper, Pedroni, has a private moment dealing with an issue. As Jax stands guard, giving Pedroni some space, they are surrounded by a group of junkies.

My copper. Jax marveled at the sight. What a gorgeous sight.

With a final kick to the ribs, her copper straightened up and nodded as if pleased.
“We can’t leave him here,” Pedroni sniffed and swiped the back of a hand across his mouth. “No telling what these junkies will do.”
“Oh, he’ll be fine.”
“Jax, come on, you promised.”

“They won’t eat him. You’re confusing them with zombies.”

THE DEVIL INSIDE - It's OUT!

THE DEVIL INSIDE is OUT!  The newest little novella featuring Jax Marlin, super-sexy vigilante, and Special Inspector Michael Pedroni, from the full-length novel, To Catch A Marlin has been released.

It was anticipated for a Christmas Eve release, but whoo-hoo! It's out early.

The Devil Inside is #5 in the series, and things get a little dark in this one.  Here's a short blurb:

Death Comes To Us All.
When her inner demon screamed, Jax Marlin set it loose upon the world's criminals. When the demon wanted blood, she gave it like an offering.
Special Inspector Pedroni chases his foes--always a step behind. This time, with heavy heart, unable to believe his Jax has become a common murderer.
After the events with the Necromancer Killer, after having set her prey free, Jax struggles to come to terms with her decision. Her inner monster, one she's kept at bay for years, surfaces in outrage and goes on a rampage. Can she stop in time before her sanity is lost? And can Pedroni come to terms with what's she's become?

Here's a wee-short excerpt:
Dead man’s punch!
Jax Marlin pivoted her body like a matador, right elbow raised high over her head just before she delivered a powerful blow into the man’s chest.
Like a bull grunting, the man let out a gust of breath. He crumpled inwards then teetered sideways, falling heavily on his side. Jax imagined his heart fibrillating from the trauma; his system would soon go into shock. Leaning over him, she drew her arm back, poised to hit him again in case the first blow didn’t take.
She waited.
Red-faced, his eyes rolled up into his head as his breath came out in strained gasps. All over his naked body, welts and bruises covered him, some bleeding. His face displayed an impressive collection of red, swollen lumps. From his mouth, blood seeped, staining the few remaining teeth. One eye was swollen shut, the other barely open.
“You will die,” Jax stated calmly.

There you have it!

Here's hoping you all have a wonderful Christmas!! Eat, drink (and buy my book) and be merry!!

Cheers!

SFFSat - June 08

Science Fiction Fantasy Saturday (SFFSat) is a place where a bunch of us post snippets from our written works and also shoot the breeze a little. And before I get ahead of myself, thanks and appreciation as always to those who stop by and leave fantastic comments.

So, straying away from my current WIP, the ever-dastardly and determined to confuse me, Bengaria's War, I had this inane thought bubble that popped in my head. Things like this have been happening to me quite recently, including having some weird dreams to help spur things along. Anyways, this thought/first two dialogue lines about 'dinosaur' just popped into and the rest just sort of came. I've never been one to write panster-style, so, basically, this is like giving a speech ad-hoc style, or storytelling around a campfire. Bear with me...I'm new to this.

This is an untitled snippet, and something I may just write as I go along, strictly for SFFSat. What do you say? This sounds like a plan. Let the pansting (is that a word?) begin! For now, let's call this a SF-ish, Twilight Zone-ish, X-File-ish something or the other...

This is the very first opening scene...

“Dinosaur.”

“You got that right. This tech is pretty ancient.”
A general calculation pegged the control room on the bridge to be circa 1960s, complete with round screens and dials and protruding knobs like toothpaste caps and sharp-edged consoles, even an old-fashioned landline telephone in a horrible peachy color was mounted at one end.
“No, I mean really. Dinosaur.”
I looked over at Mason. Judging from his expression, I knew immediately he didn’t mean the outdated navigational equipment on the derelict vessel. He stared at a point behind me and looked like he’d just pooped his pants, in the worst way possible. He even stood funny.
